The known as the Cathedral of Palma Solstice is a magical phenomenon that happens every year in two symbolic dates: Day 2 of month 2 and Day 11 of month 11.

In these two dates the first rays of morning sun cross the rosette largest cathedral (facing west with respect to the sunrise of the winter solstice) projecting on the opposite wall, just below the lower rosette, so that for a moment reflected one below the other, thus forming the number 8. The effect is that sunlight filters through the rose window of the Cathedral by Levante and out by Poniente crossing the central nave of the church, illuminating the windows and displaying an amazing play of colors. For a few seconds crystals of major rosette cast their light and color on the opposite wall offering a unique spectacle.

Around the Cathedral you will find one of the best and most exclusive neighborhoods of the Old Town of Palma. La Calatrava – Dalt Murada neighborhood can be defined as a unique experience for the senses to enjoy its narrow streets and Arab influences that give it a unique appeal. Spain’s most expensive street is precisely in this neighborhood, where the square meter is trading at price of gold; not in vain residents in this part of town are the only ones in the historic center that can enjoy the bay of Palma from home. Quiet is one of the main themes, as it is a pedestrian mall with the advantage of being a few meters away is the luxury shopping area of the city that exudes great vitality and activity. The fishing pier near the restaurants are ideal for eating fresh seafood.

Moreover, the recent opening of the port of Palma city is changing the commercial map of the city getting the traditionally most expensive and exclusive streets of the island, Jaime III and Paseo del Borne, are extended to the Moll Vell, giving more breadth and connectivity to the area.
