From Mallorca arises a new initiative that comes to add to the process of achieving quality tourism and which offers us its literary heritage.

This is the project Walking on Words , a project that proposes an itinerary around the island of Mallorca through cultural tourism. The project consists of seven routes to various locations on the island linked with an author associated with Mallorca. Jules Verne, Frederic Chopin, Robert Graves, Julio Cortazar, Josep Pla or Villalonga are some of the 49 authors included in the projectin addition to 72 locations of seven different routes.

These are known, experienced or described places by the authors in their work. The routes leading to visit up to 45 different locations in Mallorca (12 of them are concentrated in the historic center of Palma), corresponding to 32 municipalities of the island.

Route number 1: Palma literary city. Palma Old Town .

Route No. 2: Earth discovered. Deià, Sa Foradada, Miramar, Son Marroig and Valldemossa.

Route No. 3: Fiction and literary myths. Pla de Mallorca and Andratx.

Route No. 4: Literary Landscapes of Tramuntana. Pollença , Formentor, Alcúdia, Sóller, Campanet and Fornalutx

Route No. 5: Get out of the blue sea, red earth. Santanyí, Cala Figuera, Felanitx, Campos, Llucmajor and Portocolom.

Route No. 6: De towers, caves and hills. Manacor, Portocristo, Artá y Colonia de Sant Pere.

Ruta número 7: Mallorca con voz propia. Sineu, Ariany, Petra and San Juan.

The project includes signals at each location on the route, a book that guides and a free mobile application that works with bluetooth technology and provides information on the location and the author available in four languages: Catalan, Castilian, English and German. Walking on words, is guided by the original Mallorca trip showing unknown aspects, some not so, an island full of history, experiences and literature. It is also an alternative opportunity to bring literature to residents and visitors a more attractive differently.
