In September, the month of the beginning of Autumn, are celebrated in Mallorca parties related to the harvest. The best known is the one known as “Festa del Vermar” celebrated in Binissalem and is considered one of the oldest and most important of Spain. The town gives its name to the Designation of Origin Binissalem – Mallorca.

The festival lasts nine days and focuses on the product that has made this place famous for its wines. This starts with the reception of the grape harvesters at the Town Hall of Binissalem and have their signature dish, the Fideus of Vermar, a very old recipe made with lamb.

At the same time start the pruning in known Macià Batle Winery, Santa Maria, which this year expect to harvest one million kilos intended to Premsal Blanc, black Manto, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, shirah, Gorgollassa, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The harvest this year is excellent and exceeds that of 2014 by 25%.

Besides the aforementioned, there is another Appellation of Origin DO Pla i Llevant.
Noteworthy that the major remodeling carried out in the last 20 years the Mallorcan wine industry, and incorporating excellent winemakers wineries, has led to the achievement of high quality wines internationally known and appreciated.

Not surprisingly, according to the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca, exports so far this year have increased considerably compared to last year mainly due to increased sales to Germany, UK, France and Italy.
