Trendy hotels and restaurants in Mallorca

Spanish hotels are fashionable. Hot List 2016 summer issue of Condé Nast Traveler includes a selection of 25 trendy hotels worldwide. In this list, Spain is the country that most hotels have listed nine units spread in Madrid, Balearic Islands, Catalonia and Andalusia. In Mallorca, the Park Hyatt Mallorca, the first of the chain in Europe, is among the 25 chosen, according to a release of Condé Nast Traveler. In addition, it has also been selected Iberostar Grand Hotel Portals Nous, a designer hotel aimed at a young audience with access to its private cove beach.

Other European hotels included in the list are Paris Hôtel Providence; the Fendi Private Suites in Rome; Six Senses Douro Valley in Portugal, and Wilderness Reserve, in Suffolk (England). There is no doubt that the Spanish hotel industry is experiencing a time of innovation in which establishments are reinventing themselves with cutting-edge designs. And it is precisely the criteria followed by Condé Nast Traveler are based to select hotels that are setting trends in world tourism and noted for their personality, unique locations, simulated receptions, uniqueness in common areas or the presence of green areas the rooftop.

In addition to the hospitality sector, Mallorca stands by the quality of its restauration offer. Recent years have been a salutary lesson for the gastronomic panorama of the island. The five star hotel Gran Melia de Mar in Illetas recently introduced its new Restaurant Arrels (created by the renowned restorer and Mallorcan chef Marga Coll) offering traditional Majorcan cuisine with a contemporary touch and a beautiful terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. Arrels offer consists of only two tasting menus, one of five dishes and one of seven.

Quadrat Restaurant  is part of the new five-star hotel Sant Francesc, in the old town of Palma, and offers an impressive selection of a la carte dishes as well as an excellent menu of the day.

Tomeu Caldentey, chef and owner of the Michelin Star awarded restaurant, Es Moli d’en Bou in Sa Coma, just moved his restaurant Taronja Negre, from Sant Llorenc Club de Mar in Palma offering creative dishes accompanied by some original touches such as a portable stove and beverage carts and cheeses.

Ponderosa Beach is one of the bars or beach bars found in Playa de Muro, in the Bay of Alcudia.  In addition to a unique environment, it offers Mediterranean dishes (including paellas) and some Asian dishes. The atmosphere is totally relaxing and during the afternoons on weekends, there is DJ music.
