Medieval walls, narrow cobbled streets, attractive squares packed with bustling pavement cafés and chic boutiques, not forgetting the famous open-air market, Alcúdia acts as a magnet for both tourists and residents alike. Calm clear water ideal for swimming, diving and snorkelling also attracts many to Alcúdia’s 14-kilometer sandy beach. Here you can enjoy a range of watersports before relaxing at one of the many balnearios, the resort’s popular seafront bars and cafes.
Do you like golf, then you will love Alcúdia! The stunning 18-hole Alcanada golf course (971 549 560), owned by the famous Porsche family, it is widely regarded not only as Mallorca’s finest golf course, but as one of the best in the world. It overlooks the Bay of Alcúdia’s crystal clear waters and is surrounded by attractive pine and olive groves. The clubhouse is an historic Mallorcan mansion; its terrace offers views to die for.
There are some absolutely delightful hotels in Alcúdia; one being the Hotel Cas Ferrer Nou Hotelet (971 897 542) in the old town which has been described as ‘magical’ by independent travellers. If something on a larger scale is more to your taste, try the Pollentia Club Resort (971 546 996 ) where the activities, staff and the food have achieved high acclaim.
Both in the town and port area of Alcúdia you have an amazing choice of quality restaurants. The Mirador de la Victoria for example (971 547 173) has great sea views from its shaded terrace and specialises in traditional Mallorcan dishes such as snails, suckling pig and paella. Or perhaps try Sa Romana (971 549 228), renowned for its family-friendly service and delicious food made with great care.
