At least if one visits Els Calderers de Sant Joan<\/strong>, a huge Majorcan possessi\u00f3 or, in other words, a typical Majorcan finca.<\/a> The history of Els Calderers can be traced back to the XIII century. It is in some records from the year 1285 where one can find this estate registered as a belonging to the Calderers family.<\/p>\n

Although it preserves the name of the former family who founded it, in the XVIII century the entire property was bought by the Vera family. Located in the village of Sant Joan, nowadays the finca consists of different buildings surrounded by lands.<\/p>\n

The main building outstands for its enormous dining room, furnished with typical Majorcan furniture. But there are also smaller houses, where one can find a laundry, a bakehouse or a horse stable. Throughout the exhibition, one can find ancient books, manuscripts or work tools that belonged to the former owner family, who used them to cultivate the land. It is known that possessions were big houses where the economy of the landlord was based on the land and the agriculture.<\/p>\n

This is why there is also a winery, where the visitants can taste the wine produced in Els Calderers lands, as well as the sobrassada<\/strong> (a typical spicy pork sausage) or the jams produced thanks to the fruits collected from Els Calderers trees. Besides, there is also a shop where all the visitants can buy the different products manufactured in the possessi\u00f3, apart from a caf\u00e9 where one can enjoy a coffee.<\/p>\n

Tickets cost from seven euros (adults entrance) up to three euros (children\u2019s entrance). From April to October Els Calderers is open from ten to six pm; from November to March the possessi\u00f3 opens from ten to five pm.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
