About Port Pollensa

Port Pollensa is the place that has been attracting a large number of property hunters for decades; the same place that inspired Agatha Christie to write one of her novels. Also this destination, located among the mountains in the north of Mallorca, has much more to offer besides sun, sand and sea, like beautiful frontline apartments, or luxurious villas. Port de Pollensa is a much frequented and loved place, especially by the British who visit it. It is a place that always leaves visitors wanting to come back again and again. Thanks to a series of decrees that prohibit building in certain areas of the island, it is very difficult to see an excessively tall building: just long stretches of sandy beach surrounded by pine and palm trees, a splendid variety of cafés and restaurants.

Once a simple fishing port, today it is a busy town, as well as a family resort with an interesting history. Here we offer you all the information you need to find the best property for sale in Port Pollensa.

Living in Port Pollensa

With its endless charm, Port de Pollensa is a destination that families and couples return to every year. In fact, many of these people (especially those of British nationality) love it so much that they end up buying a house here or even moving here altogether. The feeling of comfort and security that characterizes this area makes it a very attractive option for families with young children.

The quiet area of Boquer has a selection of modern penthouses, while the Bellresguard complex is a group of exclusively designed residential homes, built to the highest standards and set amidst lush gardens. At Vogue properties we offer the best properties for sale in Port Pollensa. Pinewalk is undoubtedly one of the most sought after areas to buy a holiday property, which is reflected in the price of the properties. As with the rest of the island, in Port de Pollensa there is a stark contrast between the frenetic summer months and the quiet winter months. However, many of the year-round residents appreciate the peace and quiet during the low season months, as the number of tourists drops significantly.

Apart from the shops along the Pinewalk or Paseo de los Pinos and the holiday establishments, there are also areas of the port that remain open all year round, one of the busiest being Llenaire. Port Pollensa was formerly a fishing village servicing the local area. It also affords splendid sea views and a picture-perfect tramuntana mountain backdrop. It is well protected from strong winds, making it an ideal location to buy a property.

Around Port Pollensa

If you buy your property in Port Pollensa you will have many places to visit just around your home. For example; Cap de Formentor, the old walled town of Alcúdia, the attractive area of Cala San Vicente and, obviously, the town of Pollensa. A major attraction are the remains of the ancient Roman city of Pol-lèntia (Latin Pollentia, "the mighty") near Alcúdia, probably founded around 70 BC. An excursion to the archaeological excavation will be an exciting experience for any culture enthusiast. The old town, the theatre and what was the centre of the town, the Roman Forum, have been preserved. Built by Italian engineer Antonio Parietti, the winding 13.5km road from Port de Pollensa to Formentor offers breathtaking views at every turn. Away from the port, you will discover natural areas of extreme beauty and, on a clear day, you may even catch a glimpse of Menorca, some 40km away.

Port de Pollensa also serves as a starting point for various bus excursions to other parts of Mallorca. If you are travelling alone, a visit to the Sa Bassa Blanca museum of the Yannick and Ben Jacober Foundation should not be missed. Situated in the countryside, the foundation is signposted from the old town of Alcúdia: on arrival you will find a sculpture park, a rose garden and a wonderful gallery of portraits of children from the 16th-19th centuries. The area around Port de Pollensa is also a birdwatcher's dream. Ornithologists can enjoy a few hours strolling around the 150 hectares of lakes, reed beds and canals of the Albufera Nature Reserve, one of the best wetlands in Europe, or the La Gola Ornithological Tourism Centre, located in the town. Other places particularly suitable for birdwatching tourism (Aviturismo) are the Bay of Pollensa, Formentor, the Boquer Valley, the Cami Vell de Lluc and the Cala Sant Vincenç.
